I often focus on animals or people as subject matter, mainly using acrylic paint as a medim applied to either canvas or wood.
A large part of the challenge is trying to convincingly convey the mood and charactor of the subject. The other exciting challenge, is experimenting with colour, fluidity and textural qualities of paint as a medium.
The saticefaction is found on entering each new project as it often leads to new variations of colours, texture and markmaking. The rewards are endless, from stumbling on new techniques and tools to developing illustrative drips, flicks and great mistakes!
My artistic influences come from years of admiration for many great artists such as J.M. Basquiat, Arnulf Rainer, Hanselm Kiefer, Cindy Sherman, Damion Hirst, Ralph Steadman, David Hughes, Helen Ward, Cathy De Monchaux, John Lathon, Kurt Huntervasser, Jessica Stockholder and also many brilliant Graffitti artists and architects.
My ambitions include working on large scale projects and finding work in editorial illustration.
I have a BA (Hons) degree in Art & Design from the University of Hertfordshire, 1999.
